Christine M. DiPompeo, M.D.

Premier Bone & Joint Centers is excited to introduce you to Dr. Christine DiPompeo, a fellowship-trained Orthopedic Surgeon specializing in Adult Spine Surgery including neck, midback and low back procedures. She is experienced in addressing disc herniations of the neck and back, fractures, degenerative changes and sacroiliac joint dysfunction. She is joining our team in October of 2024, and we are proud to welcome PBJC’s first female surgeon to Wyoming and the communities we serve.

Background

Dr. DiPompeo grew up in the suburbs of Chicago. She spent most of her youth playing sports and spending time with her family.

Dr. DiPompeo met her husband while she was in medical school at University of Illinois at Chicago. He has always enjoyed the outdoors and spent a lot of time hiking and camping and has enjoyed sharing that passion with Dr. DiPompeo who has developed a love for it as well. Dr. DiPompeo and her husband are excited to share this passion with their two sons, Theodore and Phillip.

Education Pathway

After completing college at Northwestern University, Dr. DiPompeo earned a Masters in Health Management at Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, PA then applied to medical school. She earned her medical degree at The University of Illinois at Chicago. Following medical school, Dr. DiPompeo was accepted into the Orthopedic Surgery residency program at Southern Illinois University where she trained for an additional 5 years before graduating. After this, Dr. DiPompeo completed a year-long fellowship to sub-specialize in adult spine surgery. She underwent her fellowship at the Center for Spine and Orthopaedics in Thorton, CO under Dr. Mike Janssen who is widely recognized as one of the world’s leading experts on spinal disc replacement and motion preserving procedures of the spine.

After completing her training, Dr. DiPompeo went into practice as a spine surgeon in Peoria, IL. While in practice there, the opportunity to join the outstanding surgeons at Premier Bone and Joint Centers arose. After a year in the Denver area, Dr. DiPompeo and her husband knew they wanted to raise their children where the outdoor activities they enjoy were more accessible and she could not let the prospect of moving to Laramie and such an esteemed group let her by.

Passion

Dr. DiPompeo is incredibly passionate about taking care of her patients. She prides herself on taking time to listen how their daily lives are affected by what they are experiencing. Matching the symptoms with the pathology, Dr. DiPompeo is then able to craft a plan that will improve the patient’s every day life. With experience in both traditional decompression and fusion surgeries as well as minimally invasive fusions, endoscopic decompression and motion preserving disc replacement procedures, Dr DiPompeo has many options to help a patient achieve their goals.

Dr. DiPompeo is also an advocate in flash spinal navigation which allows for visualization of 3-dimensional anatomy intraoperatively and more accurate screw placement in surgeries without the radiation involved with other systems. This allows for faster and safer procedures.

Philosophy of Care

Dr. DiPompeo understands that spinal surgery should not be taken lightly. It is her goal to help patients understand the pathology of their spines and how that leads to the symptoms they are experiencing. She enjoys taking time to inform her patients about their condition, so that together they can develop a treatment plan that allows for the best outcome. She is dedicated to helping patient return to the active lifestyle they want.
