What Worthy of Wyoming Means To US
"Worthy of Wyoming" is more than just a slogan; it represents our commitment to upholding the values that define the Cowboy State. We believe in honor, loyalty, and courage. We are determined to maintain the high standards set by our cowboy heritage.
From the care we provide to our patients to the way we treat our own employees, we embrace the principles of the cowboy way. Genuine care and concern for each other and our patients are at the heart of our approach.
Wyoming's unbreakable spirit, characterized by independence, hard work, and tenacity, is mirrored in the way we persevere through challenges and strive for excellence.
We believe that every Wyomingite deserves the same unwavering spirit and attitude in their medical care. By setting a new standard of care, we aim to empower Wyoming's active lifestyles, keep the state moving one joint at a time, and ensure that Wyoming remains strong, resilient, and ready to face any obstacle.
With our orthopedic care, we offer strength, confidence, and a commitment to the well-being of the people of Wyoming.
Where We Began
In 1974, Dr. David A. Kieffer began his private practice to serve Laramie with his passion in orthopedics. In 1976, Dr. Kieffer partnered with Dr. Robert J. Curnow, and they together adapted the name of Gem City Bone & Joint, P.C..
Kieffer & Curnow soon partnered with The University of Wyoming to exclusively provide orthopedic care for UW Athletics; a partnership we are proud to maintain to this day.
Throughout the years, Gem City Bone & Joint expanded services throughout Wyoming, and integrated travel by flight to guarantee travel despite road conditions. We currently have 3 pilots and 4 airplanes in our fleet.
In 2011, our trademarked name was changed to Premier Bone & Joint Centers to reflect the Premier level of care we provide throughout Wyoming.
Our mission remains to provide exceptional orthopedic services for Wyoming and our closest neighbors, in our home state that we are proud to represent.

Who we are today
Premier Bone & Joint Centers is celebrating our 50th year as Wyoming’s largest provider of orthopedic care, which encompasses surgical care, non-surgical solutions, physical therapy, custom orthotics & prosthetics, and durable medical equipment.
Our focus is on the patient; each and every individual has specific injuries, conditions, and desired outcomes and we are well-equipped with a team of experts that care for each patient’s needs. Our goal is to provide quality care to patients while allowing them to limit their travel to access the care they need, which is made possible by our 12 locations across the state.
We believe in the power of sub-specialized care, meaning that -although our providers may offer general orthopedic care- each of our physicians have shown the highest level of dedication to their specific field within orthopedics (i.e. joint replacement, foot & ankle, hand & wrist, spine, etc.) and have each achieved their Fellowship in their subspecialty, the highest level of training in the medical field.
Our nine orthopedic sub-specialists include eight Orthopedic Surgeons and one Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation (PM&R) doctor. Each of them travel throughout the state to provide care to patients at our satellite clinics. We also employ over 250 staff members, who work full time to provide suitable care and resources to every patient.
Each of our locations offers services to provide convenient care to our patients throughout the state. In Laramie, our state of the art Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) is where we complete the majority of our surgical procedures, but we have built relationships with certified facilities throughout the state to obtain privileges to perform surgical cases near our patients. We will come to you whenever and however it may be possible. Within our satellite locations, we offer MRI and X-Ray imaging for convenience in diagnosing on-site.
Laramie also hosts an amazing Physical Therapy center to help patients recover quickly and thoroughly to get back to doing what they love, post-injury or post-surgery.
Premier Bone and Joint Centers prides itself on delivering expert care to patients throughout the region, establishing good working relationships between physicians and employees, and utilizing local services to the greatest extent practicable.
Our roots run deeply within the state of Wyoming, and we work resiliently to provide orthopedic care that lives up to the Code of the West, represents the values of Cowboy Ethics, and is “Worthy of Wyoming.”
